Analysis of the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) 2 Naturalistic Driving Study Data
Principal Investigator:
Gary Davis, Professor, Civil, Environmental and Geo-Engineering
Co-Investigators:
- John Hourdos, Director, MN Traffic Observatory, Civil, Environmental and Geo-Engineering
- Linda Preisen, Former Director of Research Admin., Center for Transportation Studies
Project Summary:
The objective of this project is to conduct analyses of the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS) data to obtain new information and insights on critical safety issues. The results of these analyses should: (1) lead to real-world applications and safety benefits; theoretical knowledge without potential applications is not a priority; (2) be broadly applicable to a substantial number of drivers, roadways, and/or vehicles in the United States; and (3) demonstrate the use of the unique NDS data; similar results could not be obtained from existing non-naturalistic data sets.Sponsor:
