CTS and the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Institute once again showcased transportation-related attractions at the Minnesota State Fair. Fairgoers tested their transportation knowledge in four rounds of Transportation Jeopardy! on the University of Minnesota stage. Game categories ranged from governance and legislation to road construction to Minnesota transportation trivia. Winners received nifty skateboards and autographed Gopher football and basketball memorabilia.

The CTS booth inside the University of Minnesota building included Gridlock Buster and Distraction Dodger, two online games developed by the ITS Institute and Web Courseworks. Gridlock Buster incorporates traffic engineering concepts and tools to give players a taste of what it’s like to manage traffic flow. In Distraction Dodger, players learn the value of concentrating on driving as they get behind the wheel of a mobile pizza delivery vehicle equipped with a smartphone, social media, and other distractions.
