Research Associate, St. Anthony Falls Laboratory
Jessica L. Kozarek is a Research Associate at St. Anthony Falls Laboratory (SAFL). She received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Penn State and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biological systems engineering from Virginia Tech.
Dr. Kozarek's primary research interests are in the areas of stream restoration and management; ecohydraulics; interactions between flow, sediment, and in-stream biota; use of hydraulic models to develop restoration guidance; and water quality and nutrient dynamics. Specific research projects include fish passage and sediment transport through box culverts, design of in-stream flow control structures, linkages between freshwater mussels and habitat changes, and analyzing scour at the base of retaining walls.
