Principal Investigator(s):

Jim Grothaus, Former Sr Dir, Tech Assist, Center for Transportation Studies

Project summary:

Fourteen, three-day Cost Estimation Workshops and Cost Management Workshops will be delivered. Each offering will be delivered to a maximum of 30 people per workshop. Workshop attendees will include professionals from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT). The primary audience for the training sessions will be Mn/DOT's management, designers, transportation specialists, planners, and estimators. Participant materials will be prepared for use during the forum. Together, the workshop, supporting materials and training on various tools will enhance the key principles of Mn/DOT's present highway project development, cost estimation, and cost management processes. The workshops will be structured to be interactive with the participants. Participants will be encouraged to share their own experience, gain input from others and to understand and follow new established Mn/DOT Cost Estimation and Cost Management Guidelines. Additionally, one of the three-day workshops will be filmed. Each day of film will be edited into individual segments. These segments will be arranged accordingly and then posted on Mn/DOT's website by Mn/DOT.
